I'm sorry I have been absent from the blogging scene. I don't really have much of interest to talk about. I refuse to be one of those mommy mush brains (as my friend Jeanne describes them) who only talks about her kid, and their poops and pees and eating habits... So I find that I have less than nothing to blog about.
I do need to post a little obit for my parents bird that died recently. Here it goes:
Petey Rubottom died early Sunday morning of old-age. He was found sleeping peacefully at the bottom of his cage. He had a long life (20+ years) for a cockatiel. Petey was adopted when he was 5 and had unfortunately had his wings clipped before that. While he could not enjoy flying around he enjoyed many bird related activities. He would chirp in sync with the television-- to which curse words would be hurled at him-- and one of his favorite pasttimes was calling the imaginary dog over. In later years Petey enjoyed taunting the cat (inhereted from me) and gazing out his cage at a world he was unfortunately unable to explore. He will be sorely missed. He is survived by his adopted parents Tom & Debbie Rubottom, and two siblings that never really liked him.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to Leah Sandven who will use them to set up a foundation in his name that will be used for various non-bird related activities (most likely Starbucks).
I don't have any pictures of Petey so here is a mommy mush brain moment:

Farewell Petey! (My dad and stepmom had a cockatoo, Millie, and I HATED her, she was too loud, and moody). Anyway, sorry for your parent's loss. I'm sure after that many years you definitely get attached. That picture of Lars eating cereal is so cute--you have to appreciate those little thigh rolls--because they lose them so fast. Ugh...you also should really consider coming over to the dark side and being a "mush-brained mommy". I know it's scary, and you fight it...but it's not so bad, really. Believe me, I know. Also, I really believe I was cool once. (It's a fantasy I have of myself). It's not so now, because I'm that lady that's all about my kiddies, as I'm sure you know...but I have to write stuff down, or I forget. That's annoying, too.
Anyway, Merry Christmas! I hope your holidays are great. I hope you and your husband get some quality time together. I hope you get some total kick-butt gifts that you've been coveting. You know, the true-spirit-of-Christmas stuff.
Also, I looove the little updates on Lars...so if you do start to feel like you're slipping into mushbrain territory, you can totally blame me...I'll back you up. ;)
